  • It’s Part of This

Now, that’s perfectly clear, isn’t it?

That’s our bike rack.  We like to ride bikes.  On nice days, we frequently take our bikes to one of the trails and ride 20 or 30 miles.  The rack attaches to the back of our car to carry the bikes.  A couple of weeks ago, we drove up and parked at the Lowry Nature Center and then biked over to Excelsior.  When we returned to the car, one of the little rubber buttons came off when Dan put the bikes up on the rack. It wasn’t a big problem because the rack holds 3 bikes and we only had 2, but we wanted it fixed just in case we need to haul a third bike sometime.

The bike rack had the name and phone number of the company that manufactured it conveniently printed on one of the metal arms. I called and talked to a very pleasant woman who sent me out what she thought was the correct part. The rack turned out to have a lifetime guarantee, so there was no charge for that service.

The part arrived in just a couple of days, but it was the wrong part. We called the company again, and this time offered to take pictures of the rack and the part we needed to assist them. The man we talked to that time told us that his company had bought the company that made our rack, so they were not as familiar with the parts as they would have been if they had made the rack. He told us that they did have a large supply of parts for the racks, though, and would send us the part as soon as they found it. He later emailed to thank us for sending the pictures.

Now, when a product has a “lifetime” guarantee, that does not mean your lifetime, or even necessarily the lifetime of the product. It can mean the lifetime of the company. When a company is sold, the new company has no obligation to honor those guarantees. Nevertheless, the company we were dealing with cheerfully sent us not one, but 2 parts, free of charge, and thanked us for helping them do that.

What was the name of this company? WaterMark Sports. I recommend them very highly. They’re great people who stand behind their products and go out of their way to give wonderful customer service.

  • Sounds like a good company. Have a great day..

  • It’s so pleasant when people are helpful…

  • Its great that you got such helpful service . I cannot ride a bike but I am trying on the bikes in the gym

  • I could not guess that Nancy !! Yes things are less stable now about the companies that change frequently  but this time the new company was really kind .

    Love           Michel

  • nice t to see a good company like that.

  • That was really good service!

re your comment on my other site:

there is scarcely a Grenadian that didn’t love the Cubans, they still do. What they didn’t like was the dictatorship aspect of it all!  There is a US med. and vet. school there that survived the hurricane better than most, they have been most assidious at looking after their own, although now I believe they are helping the locals as well.

I know quite a few Cubans, lots of people go there for holidays, quite a few people have gone their to their superb universities. Yes its poor, but not that poor and no one lacks education, food or medical attention, all the basics are taken care of. I have a marvellous story about my Pirate ex bf there last year which I would like to tell but due to several really weird Xangans flaming me about my private life and wanting to report my cheerfully-illegal friends to the authorities (whose?) I held back. Maybe I will now.

  • I love to bicycle, also.  Unfortunately have not really done so since the children were born.  I do not feel comfortable riding with them on the bike or pulling them either so I just didn’t do it.  Now that they are all independent on their own bikes we would like to get bikes and ride along with them.  Maybe soon!

  • Hey Nancy!

Thanks for letting us know what that was!  Girl!!  I would have never guessed that! hehehe

Glad yall can have fun biking!  Gosh, I haven’t gone biking in forever and ever!!  I don’t have any energy at all nowadays to do that though!  Even a turtle could out run me!

Hope you have a super day!!!

    HUGS!!!

  • it’s all so clear now

  • I guess the delay was caused by the wrong part etc. No, I didn’t know it was a bike rack. It sort of looked like part of a hikers pack pack. Have fun biking.

  • Glad to hear you got such good service and things worked out for you!

  • In films and on American TV the only people you see on bikes are young boys, so I naturally assume, they are sneered at in America. Cyclists are on par there with other weirds such as poets…

So it’s nice to see how wrong I can be. Though I still associate cycling as a typical British passtime.

  • There is a company to be praised. I rarely hear of free parts anymore. My neighbor needs new siding because theirs has faded so much. They found out it was guaranteed for 50 years, so they are getting all new siding and some of the labor paid for. They found a good company, too.

  • Gotta love a company that stands behind their product…that’s why, when ya buy tools, always buy Husky, Craftsman or Stanley…

  • I have an excellent bike that I never use.  :(   I keep saying I’m gonna ride it but I’m so out of shape I’m afraid I’ll get off by myself and be unable to return.

  • How refreshing to read that there exists a company like that.  Reminds me of the time I bought a water conditioner, and the signed agreement was that I could pay it off in three monthly payments and there would be no finance charge if I made the payments on time.  I received two monthly bills and paid them promptly.  The third bill came, not from the company I’d bought the conditioner from, but from Dial Finance, who told me they’d purchased the “assignable” contract from the company that had just gone out of business, and that I owed them the final payment plus a $30 finance charge.  Dial kept saying the contract was “assignable” and I kept saying, “Yeah, but you can’t change the terms of the contract.”  It wasn’t until I told them I’d called a state official who handled fraud cases that they finally capitulated.
