  • Trying Again

I am going to try my hand at blogging again.  I hope that this return will be more long lasting than my last.  We shall see.

Several things have brought me to this point.  One is a comment from Fauquet, who really is one of the dearest people on Xanga.  The fact that he is still thinking about me after all this time is amazing to me.  It also means a lot to me.

Another factor in my decision to return is the fact that I recently developed a Facebook account.  I did this at the request of my daughter-in-law who has a photography business and asked me to join facebook and become a friend of her account to help her reach a goal.  I did that, and I found Facebook to be fun.  Now, however, I am starting to find that  I miss the more in-depth exchange of ideas that occurs with blogging.  I will continue on Facebook, but I want to try this again, too.

I also just visited the Socrates Cafe site and found that I miss the discussions there.

Of course, I also miss knowing what is happening with my Xanga friends and feel a need to get reconnected.

Whatever my reasons, I am back, at least for now.  I hope this time I am successful in keeping my blog going.

    Have a great day, everyone!

PS:  I have not done this for so long that I do not remember how to write the html to make links!  I wanted to link to Fauquet and Socrates Cafe.  Bummer!!!

PPS:  OK – It is ridiculous for a person who teaches online and spends endless hours at a computer every day to say that she cannot remember how to make links.  I figured it out!  Go say hi to Michel and check out the Cafe!

  • I’m so happy you’re back!

As for hyperlinks, I have found that when I do it from home, there’s an extra step involved, occasioned in part by Xanga’s wish to protect us from dangerous places to link to, and in part by the fact that my computer apparently thinks it needs such protection while the hospital’s computer has enough built-in protections that the hospital doesn’t mind if I link to http://www.xanga.com/fauquet (there’s an easy way to direct folks, without using hyperlinks at all) without having to clearly state that I’m not afraid of the site I’m linking to.)

Anyway, there should be a link symbol above the margin where you’re creating your post (in this comment section, it’s the third symbol from the left, after the B for bold and the I for italic) and …

at home, I get a warning that I have to acknowledge, a message asking me if the site I’m linking is safe, or something like that … so

Step one:  highlight the url’s address you’re going to link to, and put it on your clipboard (control & C or whatever method you like).

Step two:  highlight the text that you’re going to use as a hyperlink.

Step three:  click the hyperlink symbol

Step three and a half (not necessary from the hospital’s computer) is to field Xanga’s question, which if I remember correctly takes two steps.  Yes, you have to click twice.  You’ll figure it out.  It’s easy.

Step four:  you’ll see the familiar dialog box that asks you to put in the url.  I use control & V but whatever pasting method you like is fine.

    Step five:  click OK.

I’m pretty sure I got that right.  Let me know if you’ve got it now.

  • Obviously, I missed your PPS.

  • Glad you are back.  Thanks for the tip on the one color element.  I’ve never tried that.

  • Glad to see you back..Have a great day..

  • Glad to see you back

  • Welcome back. I think FB is rather boring really. I link to pages from it.

ryc: yes it was our youngest child that died. Now we only have a daughter.

  • So Good to see you back. I also value the info twoberry wrote!!

  • I’m on facebook too.  I think facebook has the potential to get me into more trouble than it’s worth.  It’s easy to post short strong statements, without having to post the blog entry to back it up.

  • Hourray !! Nancy you re-start the posting . I am so happy . Thanks for your kind words above .
    The link is working .
You are right on a blog  like xanga we can make a statement , a report  etc,+.. It is different of Facebook .
    Love

    Michel
