43 Years!
Today is our 43rd wedding anniversary! In some ways, I can hardly believe that it has been 43 years already! In others, I can hardly remember when I was not married!Many things happen in 43 years. Kids are born. Careers and homes are built. Parents die. Kids go to college and present the challenge of stretching the budget to cover it. Kids get married and the budget is stretched again. The nest empties. Grandkids are born. The nest fills with the next generation from time to time. Retirement approaches with new plans and adventures. Long friendships give the opportunity for sharing and remembering through the years. The house is remodeled one more time. A possible retirement home is purchased. Life is good.

Happy Anniv! Where is the retirement home? Let’s hear about it. We are living in ours. Pets keep us from traveling, can’t haul 3 birds around.

@BLB - We bought a townhome in a suburb of the Twin Cities near where our kids live. I will post some pictures at some point. We have renters in it now. We are going to let them pay for it for awhile.
I don’t think I would travel with birds, either. We have cats. I hire someone to take care of them when we are gone or we take our cat to our son’s. He brings his cat to us when he needs someone to take care of it. We have had our son’s cat since the beginning of April and hope he is going home soon!

I’ve been on and off but not off like you. I’m SO glad to find so many of my Xanga friends and former and present members of some of the participatory groups still online and blogging away. Some say Xanga is dead. I say Xanga is alive as long as we’re here to enjoy the communication and friendship the platform affords. (And it’ll be alive as long as I’m able to type and still see my monitor.

I prefer Xanga to venues like facebook, mostly because I like to write longer pieces and to exchange meaningful comments. Most of the people I know on facebook seem to be into games and I am just not that interested in pretending that I live on a farm. I do find that I can connect with long time friends and relatives on facebook. That’s not so true, at least for me, on Xanga. On the other hand, I do have some great Xanga friends!
