  • Today is Pearl Harbor Day. Narragansett55 has a very moving blog about the bombing of Pearl Harbor. It reminded me of this book At War At Sea. Steve sent me the link to the book awhile back. He is an ex-marine and all topics related to the military are near and dear to him. I have not personally read the book, but I suspect if Steve recommends it, it is interesting. He is a pretty intelligent guy.

Steve is also an artist. This is one of his drawings. It is a soldier from the Battle of Gettysburg. He likes to draw military figures. (Yes, I know Gettysburg was a different war!)

  • What date is your Xanga blog party?  Given the time difference, I might not be able to make it but I hope you guys have a blast!!!

No, to answer your question, I’ve never met my brother’s girlfriend.  They got together a month after my last trip home, four years ago, and I haven’t seen him since his last visit here, two years ago, when she wasn’t able to accompany him, so I’m nervous as hell but I’m sooooo looking forward to it!!!

  • Thanks for posting about the party , there will be lots of information about the party on my Tuesday blog . I watched Pearl Harbour the other night , it showed what it was like to of been there , although its not as good as Tora Tora

  • *LOL*!  Yeah, I don’t react too well to people trying to tell me how I should think either, but there are plenty of other reasons I don’t like his policies!  And thanks ~ I’m pretty sure that my brother’s girlfriend and I are going to get along fine.  I told him the other day I was really nervous about meeting her, and he said, “Well, she’s nervous about meeting you, too.  And for what it’s worth, I’m nervous as well!”  Which didn’t really help but at least it made us all laugh

  • I’m retired Army and History is really neat. I grew up on the route to Gettysburg in Maryland and only lived 30 miles from there. Needless to say I spent alot of time going over the Battlefield. That battle was something. Thanks for stopping by.Have a great day.

  • I somehow always try to forget this date in my own mind. It’s the anniversary date of my first marriage… The day I got “bombed”

I will be checking on Julies site for info on the party…  I know I took a time but don’t know when it is… hope to find out.

    Happy Monday Nancy!

  • my grandpa was in the navy when pearl harbour was bombed! luckily he was stationed elsewhere.

  • I hate being off sync with most of my Xanga friends…I’ll most likely be snoozing at 7pm (2 am here)…so I’ll have to wish you Merry Christmas before then!    ~Spot~

  • I admit I took a somewhat blasphemous approach to Pearl Harbor Day.  I hope nobody was offended, as it was all meant in good fun.  There will be more about it in a blog coming soon to a Xanga site near you.

  • Thanks for the publicity!   I have not read that book yet, but it is next in my queue as I have it underneath my night table waiting to be read!
