  • Sometimes the absurdities of life really amaze me. Over the weekend, I recieved not one, but two unexpected checks in the mail as a result of a lawsuit against a bank with whom I used to have a credit card. Although I no longer have this account, apparently the legal action required that I receive the money. One check was for 13 cents and the other was for 19 cents. The checks were mailed separately. That’s right, this bank spent $.74 postage plus the cost of cutting the checks to send me $.32!!

I am having a busy couple of weeks, so I may not be blogging much. I have been subbing since last Thursday for a teacher whose mom died. I teach adult classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Tonight, I wrap gifts for Santa Anonymous after school. Wednesday, I am helping with the choir party at church. Friday, I have a breakfast meeting to plan the next session of the class for unemployed people that I will be teaching in January and February. Then I will be doing prep for that class for the rest of the day. I hope I will be blogging at some point during all that, but I can’t be sure.

  • yeah I’ve recieved checks like that.  One of lifes very silly things.  Makes a person scratch their head and think…huh?

  • Cash’em ..make ‘em pay… and be careful not to stretch your self too thin.

    regards, Inlow

  • I wonder how many customers they have done that too . I am sure most of you would of rather the money gone to a charity . Its always a busy time of year

  • Wow…what a bizarre checking situation.

Take care while you’re away from xanga.

  • I’ve never got money back. At least it’s something rather than nothing. Well, wouldn’t we all like to be .32 cents? Hehe.

Take care and have a lovely week!

  • You do sound busy.  The checks, sounds like a buracracy (spelled wrong!)

  • My settlement came to $3.57 … but rather than send me a check, they credited it to my account, which had been closed for several years. I had to call their 800- toll-free number and spend half an hour defeating their computerized phone system to talk to a human so I could insist they send me a check. The check did arrive promptly, though.

  • I once got a bank refund cheque for $2.75 because I had requested it rather than it being added to my account. They charged me $15 admin fee……

  • That’s so funny!  You know I received a check for like 12 cents a few years ago and I thought it was pretty silly!

  • wow your rich arnt you ! But you won i think lol.Love and hugs fancy

  • I was about to leave on a long vacation, so when I paid my monthly gas bill I gave them enough to cover what would be charged on the next billing, but I underestimated by 50 cents and they charged me a $2.50 penalty for being a few days “late” even though they were making interest on all that money I’d paid them a month in advance.

  • yes, but then they spent a lot more in lawyer’s fees too, no?

  • Really Nance…how old are your students?…are they particularly nite classes u sub for?..My point being is I hated my one nite classe(Statistics)…the class was always thin…managed to brown-nose myself into a C…lol…ah!…those were the good days!
