  • Mushy Peas

Have the mushy peas, he said,
    They go so well
    With the crispy fish,
    And the lovely chips!

Just a drop or two, he said,
    Of vinegar there
    Is the perfect touch
For a snack or a meal.

Wrap it in paper, he said,
    And take it along.
    It tastes like home,
    And brings memories sweet!

  • Aw, what a sweet poem! Thank you for sharing it!

  • Cute poem. But, doesn’t sound too appetizing to me.

ryc: Really it is no longer my credit history at that point?! Does that mean if I were to drive us into complete debt and then divorce him and change my name I would be fine? Just curious. But, you’re right that is annoying.

  • Ma cobwebs was white when they got here from Paris, but now they’s a shade o’ gray. Most everything else out here is gray so them ‘webs blend right in! I aint gotta lotta fancy stuff but it’s real homey like out here. I gotta place to hang ma hat (on the floor, haha!) and that’s bout all a man needs to be right down satisfied. And a huntin’ dog! Reckon i outta get me a woman too, but no hurry. Don’t rightly know why, but most women don’t cotton to these parts out here. I reckon i’m gonna get me one o’ them mail-order brides…

  • great poem . the fish and chips sound good but not the peas

  • Sounds a very english poem as of course chips and fish are best eat out of a newspaper

  • I am not sure what the mushy peas are Nancy but what is sure they are good ( oh my poor English ) . You write here a true ode to the revels of the  gastronomy , to the delights of the home good smell  memories . I like the smells of cooking  and I have the chance Janine is a fine cook . So it often smells good at home . . Congrats for this poem .
